Support

All contact goes through GitHub. SiteMark is maintained in spare time, so answers can take a few days.

Anyone can read public issues. Report security problems privately through GitHub private vulnerability reporting, so they can be fixed before others learn about them.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't SiteMark work on some pages?

Browsers don't let extensions run on their own pages (such as settings or a new tab), on the extension stores, in the PDF viewer or on local files. On those pages the popup says that SiteMark can't run there.

Why does SiteMark ask for permission when I add a URL pattern?

SiteMark has no access to any website when you install it. When you add a pattern, it asks for access to just the websites that pattern matches, so it can show your marks there on every visit. If you say no, the pattern stays with an Allow button, so you can grant access later.

My marks don't show up. What can I check?

Open the SiteMark popup on that page. It shows which site groups match, whether they are enabled and whether SiteMark has access to the website. Allow access if it asks, and reload the page. An element mark also needs its element on the page: the popup says when it isn't found.

How do I hide marks for a demo or a screenshot?

Choose Hide on this tab in the popup. The marks come back when you reload the page, leave the website or close the tab. You can also give this a keyboard shortcut in your browser's extension shortcut settings.

Where are my site groups stored?

Only in your browser, in the extension's local storage. SiteMark never sends them anywhere and doesn't sync them. To move them to another browser or device, use export and import on the options page.

How do I remove all my data?

Use Reset everything on the options page, or remove the extension from your browser. Both delete your site groups and settings. Tab titles with a prefix can still be in your browser history; clear them there.

What to include in a bug report

  • Your browser and its version, for example Chrome 131 or Firefox 142.
  • The SiteMark version, shown on your browser's extensions page.
  • The text from Copy diagnostics on the options page: the version, browser and status of permissions and marks, without full URLs.
  • What you did, what you expected and what happened instead.
  • No internal hostnames: prod.example.com works fine as a stand-in.
