Hiding marks and shortcuts

Sometimes you need a clean page: for a screenshot, a screen share or a demo to a customer. SiteMark lets you hide its marks on one tab without changing any settings.

Hide the marks on one tab

Open the popup and press Hide on this tab. The marks disappear, and the title prefix and favicon dot are taken off too. Press the button again to bring them back.

Hiding is deliberately short-lived. It lasts while you move around the same site in that tab, and ends when you reload, go to another site or close the tab. That way you never forget that marks are hidden and end up on production without a warning.

To stop marking a site for good, open the settings and disable its site group, or remove the pattern.

Keyboard shortcuts

SiteMark has two shortcuts:

  • Start the element picker: Alt+Shift+M by default.
  • Hide or show the marks on this tab: no key by default, because every key combination is taken on some website. Pick one you like.

The settings page lists both shortcuts with their current keys and a button that opens your browser's shortcut settings, where you can change them. When a shortcut can't work on a page, such as a browser settings page, the SiteMark button briefly shows a cross.

Marks and your pointer

Ribbons and banners fade while your pointer is near them, so the page's own buttons underneath stay usable. A banner's chevron folds it into a small tab until you reload the page.
